Electrician II - Maintenance & Engineering
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Engineering Services, Electrical Shop, is seeking an Electrician II. This position will be full-time and the work schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position will work weekends and holidays as scheduled for on-call.
- Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces ≤ 600 volts electrical distribution systems and related equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment systems and control systems.
- Test and maintain Emergency Generators and/or backup systems and respond to electrical emergencies.
- Read and use blueprints and schematics.
- Follow specific codes to ensure compliance.
- Repair and replace electrical components.
- Install new power circuits.
- Operate power and hand tools.
- Additional duties as required.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Requires State of Iowa Class A Journeyman Electrician license with at least four years as an apprentice plus two years of experience as a journeyman electrician;
OR
- State of Iowa Class B Journeyman Electrician license with eight years in the electrical trade in maintenance or construction.
AND
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Prefer experience with computer (Excel and Word) for data recording and power monitoring purposes.
- Prefer customer service experience.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical principals.
- Prefer knowledge of emergency generator and/or electrical back-up systems.
- Prefer experience working with and knowledge of National Electrical Code(s).
