Electrician I Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Requires State of Iowa Class A or B Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience troubleshooting and installing systems ranging from 24 volts to 120 volts.
  • Good communication skills and experience working on a team.
  • Prefer basic computer experience.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with and around a diverse culture.
  • Prefer computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Electrician II: Minimum Eligibility Requirements: 

  • State of Iowa Class A Journeyman Electrician license with at least four years as an apprentice plus two years of experience as a journeyman electrician; or
  • State of Iowa Class B Journeyman Electrician license with eight years in the electrical trade in maintenance or construction.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience troubleshooting and installing systems ranging from 24 volts to 480 volts.
  • Experience with lighting controls.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives and motor controls.
  • Good communication skills and experience working on a team.
  • Prefer basic computer experience.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with and around a diverse culture.
  • Prefer computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Electrician III Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Requires a State of Iowa Class A Master Electrician license with four years as an apprentice plus four years of experience as a journeyman electrician; or
  • State of Iowa Class B Master Electrician license with ten years in the electrical trade in maintenance or construction.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with building automation controls.
  • Experience with advanced electrical metering. (megger, power loggers, rotation meters).
  • Good communication skills and experience working on a team.
  • Prefer basic computer experience.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with and around a diverse culture.
  • Prefer computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
