Research Support Coordinator
The University of Iowa is seeking a Research Support Coordinator to join our diverse and multi-institutional team with focused efforts on community-based climate adaptation and resilience. The successful candidate will provide organizational and management capacity to the recently established Midwest Climate Adaptation Partnership (formerly Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessment). Work will be across Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and sovereign tribal nations therein. Specific partner communities across the region include women landowners and Indigenous Peoples.
The Research Support Coordinator will provide day to day project management at the direction of the project leads, including:
Manage overall grant from the NOAA CAP program, including synthesizing research, tracking progress, and reporting deliverables
Develop and maintain relationships with science, industry, public, Tribal, and non profit partners
Act as a liaison between the center and scientists, stakeholders, public, and media at conferences and industry events
Ensure compliance with Institutional Review Board requirements in response to research needs
Create presentations and outreach materials about program projects and activities
Respond to information requests from diverse stakeholders
Oversee program outreach activities and materials, including developing and maintaining databases of stakeholder and partner communication and interaction
Oversee and maintain program website
Plan and publicize events
Plan and organize center-wide and stakeholder meetings
Produce and distribute communication outputs such as newsletters, social media posts, press releases, news and events notices, annual reports, collaborative research tools, and special publications or information
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field [natural resource management, public administration, environmental studies, rural sociology, human dimensions or similar] or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
At least one year of administrative experience, including project management.
Experience requiring strong organizational skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office Products (including Word and Excel).
Experience with online meeting platforms such as Zoom.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel and work some evenings/weekends.
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of the components needed to administer complex, federally funded research grants, including tracking and reporting.
Knowledge of agriculture, rural development, social capital building, and/or climate resilience.
Experience interacting and engaging with technical, research staff, tribal communities, agricultural communities, students and/or volunteer groups.
Experience in a supervisory role.
Experience with website maintenance.
