Motor Vehicle Operator II
The University of Iowa Laundry Services is seeking a highly motivated person to work as a Motor Vehicle Operator II. The Laundry Services Motor Vehicle Operator II will be responsible for pick-up and delivery of items from Laundry Services to customers at the University of Iowa.
Job duties to Include:
- Operate trucks w/air brakes & all vehicles associated with the Laundry Service.
- Must be able to drive any of the scheduled service routes.
- Check truck fluid levels & inspect tires daily.
- Report all fluid level or mechanical problems to management.
- Clean and sweep truck bed and cab daily.
- Pickup & deliver products according to set route schedule.
- Load clean linen carts on trucks for delivery.
- Move and deliver products according to set route schedule.
- Unload all contents in the cargo box of any or all vehicles.
- Load/unload textile containers on to scales, operate scale controller to record all weight factors.
- Transport employees to work related appointments.
- Move objects more than 50 pounds.
Schedule Monday through Friday, 05:30 AM to 2:00 PM; overtime as required

About Laundry Services
The University of Iowa Laundry Service provides a wide range of laundry and linen support services for the University of Iowa Heathcare as well as various departments on campus. Laundry Services is an essential service for patients who visit the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Over 5.9 million pounds of laundry are processed annually by state of the art equipment and technology in order to meet the highest quality standards and to ensure proper care of our customers. Linen supplies are picked up, processed and prepared, and delivered daily to our customers.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- One year experience driving trucks.
- Possession of the Class B driver’s license appropriate to vehicle driven and/or materials transported. Must have ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standard.
Special Qualification
- Possession of the Class B driver’s license appropriate to vehicle driven and/or materials transported.
Desired Qualifications
- Basic computer experience.
- Good communication skills and experience working on a team.
- Experience securing loads of cargo.
- Experience working in a warehouse environment.
- Experience using weight scales and communication device such as a radio.
- Two years’ experience driving a truck with a 33,000 GVW.
- Experience operating moving equipment such as two-wheel hand cart or multi-wheel dolly.
