HVAC Manager - Engineering Services
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a 100% HVAC Manager to work in the Maintenance and Engineering Department.
Duties to include
- This position provides overall leadership, management and operational direction for the HVAC, refrigeration, and wireless temperature monitoring operations in the HVAC shop.
- This position ensures maintenance, repair, project management and code compliance are performed in a professional, efficient, safe and timely manner.
- The manager also ensures completion of preventative and corrective maintenance occurs as scheduled and meets policy and regulatory requirements. In addition, the manager is responsible for this area’s operating budget.
- The manager works cooperatively with UIHC and UI departments in the design, coordination, and implementation of capital and non-capital projects and updates design standards as needed.
- This position is responsible for meeting regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission, local, state, national code requirements, infection control and ASHRAE guidelines.
- The manager is responsible for successful HVAC utility shutdowns associated with capital, university and department shutdowns.
- Works cooperatively with the Engineering Services Department management team, UIHC clinical areas, Capital Management and the University Design and Construction Department to ensure urgent needs are met in a timely manner and large capital projects are designed, constructed and completed within the UIHC recommended standards.
- This position will report to the Assistant Director of Engineering Services.
- This position will require the ability to routinely move 50 pounds; and ability to climb, carry, bend, kneel, crawl, reach, push and pull frequently.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, additional hours as needed

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in project or construction management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 year's experience in HVAC, physical plant, faciltiies managment or related experience
- Demonstrated experience in staff performance management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated effective leadership while manageing personnel in a professional manner that includes periods of stresful deadlines and availalbe resources.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge in the principles of operations, methods, materials and tools used in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration and repair of environmental systems such as air handling units; chilled water systems and building automation systems.
- Experience with temperature, pressure and humidity requirements in a healthcare or an academic organization
- Project management and infection control measures.
- Demonstrated experience in creating a positive work environment that demonstrates a focus on service excellence principles
- Knowledge of various codes and procedures, etc., that applies to hospitals such as TJC, OSHA, DOT, etc.
- EPA Type 2 Refrigeration Certificate.
