WHAT YOU’LL DO: In this role, the Assistant Director, Processing and Verification will support and provide guidance to the Processing and Verification team. This role will work with the Associate Director, Processing and Verification to implement and provide oversight of Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR), V4/V5 verification, and any verification needs required by the Department of Education. This role will ensure timely and accurate verification, review reports and oversee task buckets, troubleshoot errors, and resolve verification issues. This role will also work with special and unusual requests from students and parents for professional judgement review and assist with determining a student’s eligibility for financial aid.

The Assistant Director, Processing and Verification will also have an opportunity to:

·       Implement and provide oversight of compliance with any ISIR comment codes, V4/V5 verification requirements, and any verification changes required by the Department of Education.

·       Review reports and task bucket activity to ensure all work is being completed timely.

·       Counsel and advise students and parents in person, via email, Zoom, and by phone regarding financial aid policies, procedures, application processes, and financial aid options according to US Department of Education regulations and professional judgment guidelines, while coordinating work with the processing and verification team, and completing other administrative tasks as required.

·       Test various EFC and SAI calculations. Adjust and submit EFC and SAI changes as required.

·       Coordinate with the team that processes, verifies, and corrects the student’s FAFSA.

About the Department: The Office of Student Financial Aid assists students with the costs of their educational investment. Our committed team of professionals works in partnership with families, providing information on available options and assisting with the financial aid process.

This position is performed fully on campus.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Financial Aid Office experience

Demonstrates an EXTENSIVE proficiency level in:

  • Financial aid programs and policies: knowledge of and the ability to develop and implement financial aid programs and policies to attract outstanding students and help them finance their course of study.
  • Communicating for effective relationships: knowledge and application of the communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail: understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
  • Data gathering and analysis: knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes. Ability to use these skills to collect and analyze data for a specific or variety of needs and/or projects.

Desired:

  • At least 5 years of Financial Aid Office experience
  • An understanding of University of Iowa policies and procedures
  • Experience in MAUI, or similar system

 Compensation: Anticipated salary $56,000-commensurate dependent upon qualifications. Salary will be discussed at time of interviews.
