The UIHC Medical Center Downtown is seeking a Respiratory Supervisor to join their team. This position is responsible for supervisor the implementation of respiratory care for patient care units. This position will be located at the Downtown Campus in our Respiratory Department.
Job Duties include:
· Hire, develop, and manage the performance of staff in a departmental unit or functional division.
· Makes effective and timely recommendations in matters of hiring, promotion, transfers, and disciplinary action(s).
· Ensures performance expectations are clearly understood by staff and holds staff accountable to meet or exceed patient needs/expectations as well as maintain standards of collaboration and respect within and among multidisciplinary teams.
· Completes staff evaluations on time with written, solid justification.
· Reviews attendance data to recognize trends and takes appropriate follow-up with staff.
· Prepare and/or assist in budget development; provide projections and recommendations. Manage financial and productivity data and monitor the budget to meet goals. Resolve budget discrepancies.
· Participates in the development and monitoring of the operating budget, reviews staffing plan, develops a plan for minor equipment and furniture replacement, etc. for the clinical division.
· Identify trends and determine QA priorities. Recommend QA and patient/customer satisfaction strategies. Develop and monitor plans to enhance patient satisfaction.
· Assumes oversight of the clinical division in the department in the absence of the Director, perform supportive role in maintaining standards of Respiratory Care.

Education Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
· Graduate of a two- or four-year AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program, or completion of the requirements to become registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Experience Requirements:
· Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
· 3 years supervisory or related- experience in Respiratory Care in a hospital setting is required.
· Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as well as possessing and maintaining active membership.
· Maintains active memberships in the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), Iowa Society for Respiratory Care (ISRT) and the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)
· Possess a current CPR certification card.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be proficient in computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
