Facilities Mechanic III, Plumbing (2nd shift)
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Engineering Services, Plumbing Shop, is seeking a Facilities Mechanic III. This position will be on 2nd shift 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Monday-Friday and will be located at the Main Hospital. Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment.
Job Duties:
- Applies knowledge and skill at the journey level to install and repair pumps, piping, fixtures, appliances, laboratory equipment and apparatus related to gas, air, steam, water, drainage systems, and heating and cooling systems.
- Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment.
- Inspects, maintains, and makes operating repairs on electrical equipment and wiring, plumbing fixtures and pipe, heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment, etc.
- Performs preventive maintenance on motors, pumps, and other equipment, and maintains appropriate records.
- Constructs sanitizers, installs oxygen outlets and systems according to engineering specifications.
- Performs preventive maintenance and emergency repair work.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Performs work in related crafts areas as assigned.
- Assists in directing the work of others.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment
- Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prefer State Licensed Plumber
- Prefer computer skills (Access, Excel, and Word)
- Prefer experience with large sewer rodders and experience with pro press fittings, & soldering of large pipes.
