Equipment Operator / Concrete Crew
The University of Iowa Landscape Services is seeking a highly motivated person to work as an Equipment Operator. This position would be a member of the Concrete Crew. Must have basic knowledge of hand tools, equipment, concrete removal and installation, concrete forming, finishing, grinding, patching, etc. During inclement winter weather this position will be required to assist in snow and ice removal in a variety of equipment that may include skid steers, plow trucks, sander, or Polar Trac.
Job Duties to Include:
- Removing, forming, pinning, installing, sealing, grinding, and patching concrete around U of I campus.
- Operate skid loaders, JCB, tractors, and attachments
- Perform snow removal in plow truck and/or skid loader
- Assist other Landscape Services units as needed such as the Tree Crew, Turf Crew, etc.
- Haul materials such as soil, sand, gravel in dump truck.
- Communicate w/ Supervisor, staff, and customers.
- Perform minor repairs and service work on equipment.
- Use technology as required in fulfilment of position (e.g., email, Employee Self Service, work order system).

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm; overtime as required

About Facilities Management:
Facilities Management (FM) is a service unit of approximately 500 employees who work behind the scenes, 24 hours a day, serving the University of Iowa as stewards of our beautiful Iowa City campus and Oakdale campus in Coralville. FM staff coordinate campus master planning, manage design and construction, maintain, and clean the buildings and grounds.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Two years of related equipment and concrete operating experience.
- Possession of Class B CDL with air brakes and Class A with air brakes preferred. Ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience operating snow/ice removal equipment.
- Good communication skills and experience working on a team.
- Prefer basic computer experience.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work with and around a diverse culture.
- Experience installing tactile pads.
- Experience installing colored and/or stamped concrete.
