University Housing & Dining at the University of Iowa is seeking to hire multiple Custodian I positions to provide safe, clean, and healthy environments in all residence halls.  

 

Duties to include:

  • Floor work including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing and buffing
  • Clean and provide service to all horizontal and vertical surfaces including glass, walls, ceilings and light fixtures; working at elevated heights is required
  • Clean, sanitize and disinfect all restroom surfaces

 

The shift for these positions is 7:30AM to 4:00PM.  Will work every other weekend with rotating days off.  May work occasional overtime to cover absences and peak periods of operation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, and follow directions.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
  • 6 months' experience working as a laborer.
  • 3 months of professional custodial experience.
  • Experience performing labor-intensive work in a residence hall, apartment complex, hotel, hospital, nursing home, or similar residential facility.
